CUAAH Research Projects Interdisciplinary Collaboration

The research team is comprised of a diverse group of nurse, physician and Ph.D. investigators from disciplines of exercise physiology, sociology, psychology, internal medicine/hypertension, oncology, family medicine, nursing, epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, obstetrics and gynecology, genomics, gerontology, anthropology, and demography.

Thirty-four investigators have come together from multiple departments, centers and programs (Karmanos Cancer Institute, Center for Health Effectiveness Research, Perinatal Research Unit, Institute of Gerontology, Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Clinical Applications Program) across the Wayne State University campus, the University of Florida, and the University of Michigan (consultants), to formulate hypotheses and discern answers relevant to the overall research theme of obesity, lifestyle, socioeconomic status, community attributes, and the environment in African Americans.

All of the projects have strong multi-disciplinary teams and are highly dependent on the use of the cores for the successful completion of their respective projects.
